Course Description

Anatomy BSc (Hons): B110

Explore the human body through hands-on dissection, cutting-edge technology and research-led teaching.

Anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body and how it functions in health and disease. You will explore human anatomy from whole systems to cells, linking structure to function, variation, research and clinical practice.

At the University of Glasgow, anatomy is taught as a modern, research-led discipline using imaging, digital technologies and hands-on learning. This degree prepares you for careers in healthcare, biomedical science and medical technology.

Anatomy plays a central role in healthcare practice and biomedical research, helping answer key questions in health and disease. It supports major medical advances in areas such as surgical innovation, cancer research, and regenerative medicine, where scientists work to repair or replace damaged tissues.

This strong link to real-world research means you will develop skills that prepare you for a wide range of roles across healthcare, biomedical science and technology. It also helps you understand how research improves diagnosis, treatment and patient care.

  • Work with human donors through whole-body dissection, a uniquely immersive and clinically relevant way to study human anatomy
  • Learn in state-of-the-art facilities. You will use advanced tools such as 3D imaging, ultrasound and digital learning resources
  • Understand how emerging technologies, including AI in healthcare, support research, diagnosis and clinical decision-making
  • Study an anatomy degree taught by internationally recognised experts and active researchers
  • Gain a global perspective through an international partnership with Hong Kong University, exploring anatomical diversity
  • Benefit from Royal Society of Biology accreditation to support your professional development
  • Tailor your anatomy degree with pathways such as clinical anatomy, neuroanatomy and embryology
  • Take part in study abroad opportunities to broaden your academic and cultural experience
  • Build practical experience through an MSci placement or research internships with industry partners like Terumo Aortic
  • Join a supportive and inclusive environment designed for both UK and international students
