Our BA (Hons) History degree will equip you with critical thinking and analytical skills, as you explore British, Irish and world history from compelling new perspectives.
Throughout your history degree, you'll get to choose from modules covering British and Irish history, world history, and heritage. This flexible approach allows you to tailor your learning to suit your interests. You’ll acquire a deep historical knowledge and understand different periods of history in various parts of the world.
You will be taught by an enthusiastic team of academics as you explore the cultural, diplomatic, political, and social aspects of history. Discover and analyse both primary and secondary sources. Discuss the nuances of different theories and put forward your own arguments in lively and engaging seminars.
Unlike other history degrees, our course is focused on developing key employable skills. This will allow you become a historian or enter other professions, including business, law and teaching. You can get involved in our Community History Project in Year 2. This will equip you with the skills to plan and carry out independent historical research. In Year 3, you'll also have the option to undertake a work placement in a school or the heritage industry. This real-world experience will enhance your CV.
