Overview:

The Philosophy and Politics BA Foundation pathway develops the academic, English language and study skills needed to progress successfully into undergraduate study at Lancaster University. It combines subject-focused preparation with broader skills development, helping students build a strong foundation for further study in philosophy and politics.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the foundation pathway, students will be able to demonstrate a stronger academic understanding of themes relevant to philosophy and politics and use appropriate approaches to university-level study. They will be able to communicate ideas more effectively in English, apply developed study skills to academic work, and engage with subject-focused learning with greater confidence. Students will also have strengthened transferable skills relevant to further study and future professional development. Successful completion of the pathway, together with meeting the university’s requirements, provides a guaranteed route to Year 1 of the associated undergraduate degree.

Requirements

Kuwait: Completion of High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) with a minimum overall average of 50% including a Mathematics score of 70%.
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 5.0 with no band below 4.5 (or approved SELT equivalent).
