Overview

Electrical and electronic technology underpins much of modern life, from communications and transport to healthcare and energy, making it one of the broadest and most in-demand engineering disciplines. The BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol builds a strong technical foundation across mathematics, electronics, communications and control systems, preparing students to work on the technologies shaping industries such as consumer electronics, alternative energy and medical engineering. The first two years establish core theoretical knowledge, while the third year brings a group design project alongside more specialist study. The course suits students seeking a broad, technically rigorous engineering education with the flexibility to specialise, and shares its early structure with the university's integrated master's route, allowing movement between the two subject to performance.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply core mathematical and engineering principles to the design and analysis of electrical and electronic systems, spanning analogue and digital electronics, communications and control. They will be equipped to use their theoretical grounding in electromagnetics and electronic systems to address practical engineering problems. Through a group design project and specialist final-year units, students will develop hands-on design, teamwork and problem-solving skills relevant to real industry challenges. Graduates will leave with a broad, technically robust foundation in electrical and electronic engineering, suited to further study or a career across sectors including consumer electronics, alternative energy, medical engineering and communications.

Requirements

Kuwait: High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) is not accepted for direct undergraduate entry. Completion of a recognized foundation course (or A-Levels / equivalent qualification) is required
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (or approved SELT equivalent)
Minimum overall average of 50% (60 academic credits) in the Foundation Programme required to progress to Year 1 of the Bachelor's degree
Completion of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) / English Language Module within the Foundation Programme with a minimum score of 63%
Award of IFP with 50 overall (80 credits) with 55 in Foundations of Physics and 60 average across Techniques in Mathematics and Foundations and Applications of Calculus & 63 overall in English for Academic Communication in STEM
