Course Description

Overview:

The BEng Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Glasgow introduces students to engineering principles alongside the technologies used to create intelligent robotic systems. The course develops practical and analytical capabilities that support understanding and solving complex engineering problems across a range of specialisms.

What You'll Learn:

  • Core engineering principles and their application to real-world problems

  • Fundamentals of robotics and the design of robotic systems

  • Artificial intelligence concepts and their role in intelligent technologies

  • Practical approaches to engineering design, analysis, and problem-solving

  • Analytical methods for investigating and addressing technical challenges

  • Connections between robotics, AI, software, and broader engineering disciplines

  • Engineering applications across areas such as mechanical, electrical and electronic, automotive, aerospace, and systems engineering

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, students will be able to explain key principles underpinning robotics and artificial intelligence and apply engineering knowledge to technical challenges. They will develop practical and analytical skills for evaluating problems, designing appropriate solutions, and understanding how intelligent robotic technologies relate to wider engineering practice. Students will also be equipped to recognise the contribution of software, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and systems engineering to the development of robotics and AI applications.
