Overview

Nurses form the backbone of healthcare systems worldwide, caring for patients through everything from acute illness to long-term conditions, and demand for skilled professionals in the field remains consistently high. The BN (Hons) Nursing (Adult) at the University of Portsmouth is developed with NHS partners and approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, combining rigorous scientific study with extensive simulation-based training before students move into real clinical placements. Learning takes place in a dedicated simulation suite, including mass casualty exercises, alongside placements across hospitals, clinics and community settings supported by registered clinical mentors. The course suits students who want a practically grounded route into nursing, with strong graduate employment outcomes and eligibility for professional registration on qualifying.

Learning Outcomes

Through extensive simulation training and clinical placements, students will develop strong practical, communication and leadership skills relevant to real nursing practice. Graduates will be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ready to pursue a wide range of nursing career paths across primary, secondary and community care.

Requirements

Kuwait: High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) is not accepted for direct undergraduate entry. Completion of a recognized foundation course (or A-Levels / equivalent qualification) is required
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (or approved SELT equivalent)
