Course Description

Overview

The BSc (Hons) Cyber Security at Keele University combines computer science with the study of protecting digital systems, networks, data and users from security threats. The course develops technical and analytical knowledge through areas such as programming, cybercrime, network security, threat intelligence and digital forensics, helping students understand how vulnerabilities can be identified and managed.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to analyse computing environments and identify vulnerabilities, threats and potential security risks. They will understand how programming, networks, cryptography and system design contribute to effective cyber security and will be able to evaluate appropriate approaches to protecting information and digital infrastructure. Students will develop practical and analytical skills for investigating security incidents, interpreting evidence and responding to evolving cyber threats. They will also be able to apply structured problem-solving to complex security challenges, conduct independent research and communicate technical findings clearly. The course develops an integrated understanding of the technical, organisational and human factors involved in maintaining secure digital systems.

Requirements

Kuwait: Completion of Tawjahiya/Thanawiya: minimum 60% average
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 5.5 with no band below 5.5 (or approved SELT equivalent).
