Overview

The BSc (Hons) Pharmacology course provides a foundation for understanding how medicines and other substances interact with biological systems. At Aston University, students develop knowledge of pharmacology alongside relevant scientific principles, preparing them to examine how drugs affect the body and how this knowledge supports the study of medicines.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to explain fundamental pharmacological concepts and describe how drugs interact with biological systems. They will understand the scientific principles that underpin drug action and be able to relate these principles to the effects of medicines in the body. Students will also be able to apply foundational knowledge from relevant biological and chemical sciences to pharmacological topics, interpret basic scientific information, and use appropriate terminology when discussing drug effects and mechanisms. The course provides students with a structured academic foundation for progressing to further study of pharmacology and associated areas of pharmaceutical and biomedical science.

Requirements

Kuwait: Completion of High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) with a minimum overall average of 60%, including 60% in Mathematics.
IELTS 5.5/5.5UKVI IELTS (Academic) 5.5 with no band below 5.5 (or approved SELT equivalent).
