The University of Waikato operates across a dual-campus model in the North Island of New Zealand, anchored by its primary grounds in Hamilton alongside a modern urban campus in Tauranga. Established in 1964, the university delivers comprehensive qualifications across arts, humanities, business, management, education, health, engineering, computing, mathematical sciences, law, and Māori and Indigenous studies.

Additional major infrastructure across the Hamilton grounds includes specialized science and engineering laboratories, the Academy of Performing Arts, expansive sports fields, the UniRec health and fitness complex, and four main residential halls—Bryant Hall, College Hall, Student Village, and Orchard Park.

Complementing its flagship Hillcrest footprint, the university operates the Tauranga Campus, located on Durham Street in the heart of Tauranga's central business district. Opened in 2019, this modern multi-level facility serves the Bay of Plenty region with flexible teaching spaces, computer labs, clinical simulation rooms, and community engagement hubs. Across both the sprawling parkland environment in Hamilton and the urban setting in Tauranga, the University of Waikato integrates academic facilities with dedicated public transport links and regional connections.
