The Certificate in Foundation Studies replaces the final year of high school and provides students with a focused pathway into any of University of Canterbury’s bachelor’s degrees.
The programme is structured across two trimesters and includes a set of core courses that develop skills and knowledge necessary for academic success at a university level, a numeracy elective, and three courses from an area of focus in Arts, Business, Engineering, or Science.
Our foundation course provides a supportive, immersive experience of university life on campus in New Zealand and sets you up to successfully enter the first year of your chosen bachelor’s degree.
UC's Certificate in Foundation Studies is delivered exclusively by our dedicated on-campus UC International College (UCIC).
