Overview

The BMus (Hons) Music develops a broad understanding of music through practical, creative, analytical, and theoretical study. Students engage with musical performance and creation while exploring the ways music is structured, interpreted, produced, and understood across different contexts.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate a developed understanding of musical concepts, structures, styles, and practices. They will be able to apply theoretical and analytical techniques when examining music and use informed judgement when interpreting musical works or performances. Students will develop practical and creative abilities through performance and composition, alongside stronger listening and aural skills. They will also be able to investigate musical subjects using appropriate research methods, evaluate relevant evidence, and communicate their ideas clearly. The course will enable students to connect practical music-making with theoretical and critical perspectives, giving them a comprehensive understanding of how music is created, performed, analysed, and experienced.

Requirements

Kuwait: Completion of High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) with a minimum overall average of 80%.
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 5.5 with no band below 5.5(or approved SELT equivalent).
