Course Description

Overview

Exploring the relationship between bodily structure, biological mechanisms, and human evolution is fundamental to advancing medical science and health practice. Offered by The University of Western Australia, this program combines the study of human physical systems with biological and behavioral concepts. Learners investigate the body at multiple levels—from cellular networks to whole-body systems—while considering the biosocial factors and ethical frameworks that influence human health.

What You'll Learn

  • Gross human functional anatomy, tissue structures, and major organ system operations.

  • Principles of human genetics, biological variation, adaptation, and evolutionary history.

  • Processes of human reproduction, embryological development, growth, and aging.

  • Structure and biological function of the central and peripheral nervous systems.

  • Cellular mechanisms, molecular networks, and microscopic analysis of human tissues.

  • Interactions between human biological function, social behaviors, and environmental contexts.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this program, students will be able to analyze human physical structures and biological processes from microscopic to population levels. Participants will acquire the expertise to conduct laboratory investigations, utilize anatomical mapping techniques, and interpret quantitative biological data. Furthermore, graduates will possess the critical analytical capabilities needed to evaluate health-related challenges, incorporating scientific research with broader ethical and social considerations.
