Course Description

Overview

The Bachelor of Data Science (Statistics) focuses on the mathematical framework and quantitative methodologies used to model uncertainty and analyze complex datasets. Taught at Deakin University, this program combines foundational statistical theory with practical computational skills to reveal hidden trends within raw information. Developing these core analytical capabilities prepares students to solve real-world problems through rigorous evidence-based reasoning.

What You'll Learn

  • Core principles of probability theory, random variables, and distribution models

  • Statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis techniques

  • Fundamental programming for data manipulation and statistical computing

  • Data collection strategies, experimental design, and sampling methodologies

  • Exploratory data analysis and techniques for visual data representation

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this program, students will be able to apply appropriate statistical models to interpret complex quantitative information. Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in using computational tools to execute data analysis, evaluate empirical hypotheses, and draw sound statistical conclusions. Additionally, learners will effectively communicate mathematical insights to varied stakeholders and possess the necessary analytical foundation for advanced studies in data science and statistics.
