Overview

Designing the aircraft and spacecraft of tomorrow requires broad engineering skill spanning aerodynamics, structures, propulsion and control. The BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering at the University of Birmingham builds this expertise across both terrestrial and space applications, letting students tailor their studies toward areas such as space missions or high-performance aircraft materials. Students benefit from UK-leading flight simulation facilities that support progression to practical flight testing, alongside teaching from academics involved in real space missions and jet engine development. What You'll Learn

  • Core engineering fundamentals shared by all students, alongside aerospace-specific practical and design work in the first year

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply core engineering principles across aerodynamics, structures, propulsion and control to solve real terrestrial and space aerospace problems. They will be equipped to use advanced computational tools, including finite element analysis, to model and evaluate complex aerospace systems. Through practical flight testing and an Aerospace Individual Project, students will develop hands-on technical, analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to both aviation and space sectors. Graduates will leave with a broad, dual-accredited grounding in aerospace engineering, well prepared for further study or a career addressing complex engineering challenges across aerospace and related industries.

Requirements

Kuwait: High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) is not accepted for direct undergraduate entry. Completion of a recognized foundation course (or A-Levels / equivalent qualification) is required
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5 (or approved SELT equivalent)
