Overview
This degree examines the core building blocks of computing, spanning infrastructure, programming, web development, and communication technologies. Accredited by the Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) on behalf of the Engineering Council, it is structured to develop the analytical and technical judgement needed to solve real-world computing problems from initial analysis through to working implementation. At Aberystwyth University, teaching draws on current research and close ties with industry, giving the subject matter a practical, applied edge.

Learning Outcomes
Graduates will be able to analyse computing problems methodically and design, build, and implement effective software solutions using industry-relevant tools and languages. They will understand how infrastructure, security, and data considerations shape real systems, and be able to apply structured engineering practices across a project's lifecycle. The course also builds the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on technical projects, communicate complex ideas clearly, and manage time and tasks effectively. Through the major project and optional specialisms, students will finish equipped to pursue focused technical interests and adapt their skills to varied roles within the computing field.
