Course Description

Overview

This programme at the University of Leeds prepares students to practise in one of modern medicine's most dynamic fields, combining science, technology, and patient care. It equips students to work at the forefront of emerging diagnostic and treatment technology, using techniques similar to those used by medical professionals for patient diagnosis and treatment.

What You'll Learn

  • Core radiographic technique and the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, chest, and abdomen

  • Fundamental anatomy, basic pathology, and how to interpret medical images

  • Communication, teamwork, and patient care skills

  • Imaging methods including digital imaging, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, and artificial intelligence

  • Imaging of body systems such as the respiratory and cardiovascular systems

  • More advanced and specialist imaging investigations, developed with greater independence and professional responsibility

  • Optional specialist areas such as paediatric or forensic radiography

  • A final year research project developing evaluation skills and evidence-based practice

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to produce high-quality diagnostic images using a range of established and emerging imaging technologies. They will be able to interpret medical images and apply sound clinical judgement across different body systems and patient needs. Students will also be equipped to work effectively within diverse healthcare teams, demonstrating the professional responsibility and evaluative skills expected of a registered diagnostic radiographer.

Requirements

Kuwait: Completion of High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) with a minimum overall average of 85%, including 85% in Maths, Chemistry and Biology.
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with no band below 5.5 (or approved SELT equivalent).
