Overview

Caring for adults through every stage of life, from early adulthood to old age, calls for both compassionate practice and genuine clinical skill. The BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing at Swansea University splits learning evenly between university-based study and clinical placements across Southwest Wales, taught by qualified nurses, doctors and allied health professionals who remain active in clinical practice. Students train in a realistic clinical suite and SUSIM, the world's largest immersive wall technology installation, before applying these skills in hospital and community settings across the region. The course suits students committed to person-centred, evidence-based care, with NMC accreditation and the option of full NHS-funded tuition for eligible UK students.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to assess the holistic needs of adult patients and deliver person-centred, evidence-based care across acute, long-term and palliative settings. They will be equipped to apply core clinical knowledge, including pharmacology, medicines management and safeguarding, to real patient care. Through extensive practice placements and simulation-based training, students will develop strong clinical decision-making, leadership and reflective practice skills relevant to complex, real-world healthcare environments. Graduates will be eligible to register as an Adult Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ready to pursue nursing careers across direct patient care, advanced clinical practice, leadership, education or research in Wales and internationally.
