This foundation year route gives students the mathematical grounding and technical skills needed to progress into a full degree spanning artificial intelligence and data science. At the University of Derby, the programme responds to the fast-growing demand for professionals who can extract meaning from data and build intelligent systems across sectors such as healthcare, transport and commerce.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply mathematical and computational methods to analyse complex data sets and translate findings into practical insight. They will understand how to design and construct AI models and systems, and will have developed the research, teamwork and problem-solving abilities needed to move into roles such as data scientist, data analyst, data engineer or machine learning engineer.
