Overview
The BSc (Hons) Computer Science develops a broad understanding of computing principles, software, algorithms, data, and digital systems. Students learn how computational ideas can be applied to analyse problems and create effective solutions while developing technical, analytical, and programming capabilities.
What You'll Learn
Core principles of computer science and computational thinking
Programming, software development, and coding practices
Algorithms, data structures, and computational problem-solving
Computer architecture, systems, and operating principles
Databases, data management, and information processing
Computer networks and digital communication
Software engineering, testing, and system development
Cybersecurity concepts and responsible computing
Mathematical, analytical, and research techniques for computing
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to apply fundamental computer science concepts to investigate problems and develop suitable computational solutions. They will be able to design, implement, test, and evaluate software using appropriate programming, algorithmic, and development methods. Students will understand how hardware, software, databases, and networks interact within computing systems and will be able to analyse their operation using relevant technical approaches. They will also develop skills in working with data, investigating computing questions, and assessing alternative solutions critically. The course will strengthen logical reasoning, programming, research, and communication abilities, enabling students to approach technical challenges systematically and explain computing concepts and solutions clearly.
