Course Description

Overview:

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) explores the principles of computing alongside the development and application of artificial intelligence. Students build a foundation in computer science while examining how intelligent systems can be designed, implemented and evaluated.

What You'll Learn:

  • Core principles and practices of computer science

  • Artificial intelligence concepts, methods and applications

  • Programming and computational problem-solving

  • The development and evaluation of software and intelligent systems

  • Data, algorithms and computational techniques relevant to AI

  • The relationship between theoretical computing concepts and practical applications

  • Approaches to analysing computing problems and developing appropriate solutions

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental computer science principles and explain key concepts underpinning artificial intelligence. They will be able to apply programming, algorithms and computational methods to address defined problems, while selecting suitable approaches for developing software and AI-based solutions. Students will also be able to assess and discuss how intelligent computing techniques can be applied to practical challenges, analyse the effectiveness of different approaches, and communicate technical ideas clearly. The course supports the development of both theoretical understanding and practical problem-solving skills, enabling students to connect core computing knowledge with the design and evaluation of intelligent systems.
