Overview

Artificial intelligence is reshaping how software is built and used, and understanding it properly requires a solid foundation in core computer science alongside specialist AI knowledge. The BSc Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bristol combines these two strands, giving students a thorough grounding in algorithms, programming and computer architecture alongside dedicated study of AI concepts, tools and methods. The course is delivered at a university recognised as AI University of the Year and home to the Isambard-AI supercomputer, with strong ties to the concentration of technology companies based in and around the city. It suits students who want deep technical expertise across both computer science and AI, supported by real project work and industry engagement throughout their studies.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply core computer science principles, including algorithms, programming and system architecture, alongside specialist knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts and methods. They will be equipped to use the mathematical and statistical foundations that underpin both fields to build and evaluate AI systems responsibly. Through a team-based AI software project supported by an industrial mentor and an individually supervised final-year project, students will develop practical experience of designing, building and testing real AI applications, often alongside industry or research partners. Graduates will leave with a strong dual grounding in computer science and artificial intelligence, along with the technical and problem-solving skills needed for further study or a career developing and applying AI technology.

Requirements

Kuwait: High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) is not accepted for direct undergraduate entry. Completion of a recognized foundation course (or A-Levels / equivalent qualification) is required
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (or approved SELT equivalent)
