Overview

Teaching machines to reason, learn and communicate like humans sits at the frontier of modern computing, raising real questions about how far artificial intelligence should go. The BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at the University of York builds a strong foundation across core computer science before allowing students to specialise in areas such as machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision and game AI. Teaching takes place in the purpose-built Ian Wand Building, with access to dedicated software and hardware laboratories supporting both study and world-leading research. The course suits students who want genuine technical depth in AI alongside broader computing skills, with the option to add a placement year for real workplace experience.

Learning Outcomes

Through a specialist individual project and advanced AI modules, students will develop deep technical skills in areas such as machine learning, natural language processing and autonomous systems. Graduates will leave able to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and operate as responsible computing professionals, staying alert to the legal and ethical implications of AI as they build a career shaping the technology's future.

Requirements

Kuwait: High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) is not accepted for direct undergraduate entry. Completion of a recognized foundation course (or A-Levels / equivalent qualification) is required
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (or approved SELT equivalent)
