Overview:
The BSc (Hons) Human Biology & Physiology explores the science of the human body, focusing on how its biological structures and physiological systems function. Offered through the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health at the University of Glasgow, the course develops a broad scientific foundation for understanding human health and biological processes.
What You'll Learn:
Fundamental concepts in human biology and physiology
Organisation, structure, and function of the human body
Biological mechanisms that support normal physiological activity
Relationships between physiological processes and human health
Scientific approaches to understanding biological and health-related topics
Connections between human biology and wider areas of science and health
Core knowledge relevant to disciplines such as biological science, neuroscience, pharmacology, and health sciences
Learning Outcomes:
On completing the course, students will be able to explain key principles of human biology and physiological function with greater scientific understanding. They will be able to describe how biological systems operate and identify connections between different processes within the human body. Students will also understand how scientific knowledge can be used to examine questions related to human health and biological function. The course will help them build a strong foundation across relevant science and health subjects while developing the ability to interpret and connect biological concepts. This knowledge can provide a basis for progressing into areas such as biological science, neuroscience, pharmacology, nutrition, sports science, and public health.
