Overview

Caring for the nation's health takes both compassion and clinical rigour, and nurses continue to face an ever-evolving set of challenges across hospital and community settings. The BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) at the University of York is shaped by research-informed teaching and world-class facilities, building knowledge across biosciences, psychology and sociology alongside professional development and hands-on placement experience. Students put their learning into practice through placements across the region, supported by a dedicated practice learning team and a clinical simulation unit. The course suits students who want a scientifically grounded, practically focused route into adult nursing, with strong preparation for professional registration and future leadership roles.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to assess individuals with complex needs and plan person-centred, evidence-based care across a variety of clinical settings. They will be equipped to work in partnership with individuals, families and other professionals to promote health and support quality of life throughout the lifespan. Through extensive placement experience and reflective, evidence-based study, students will develop strong clinical decision-making, leadership and risk-management skills. Graduates will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ready to begin a nursing career with the skills to lead, manage and coordinate care across a wide range of health and social care settings.

Requirements

Kuwait: High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) is not accepted for direct undergraduate entry. Completion of a recognized foundation course (or A-Levels / equivalent qualification) is required
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 7.0 overall with no band below 7.0 (or approved SELT equivalent)
Minimum overall average of 65% in the Foundation Programme required to progress to Year 1 of the Bachelor's degree
Completion of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) / English Language Module within the Foundation Programme with a minimum score of 70% with no section below 70%
2 references required; 1 academic, 1 work when a candidate has had previous experience in a health care environment & subject to satisfactory interview, Enhanced DBS check/overseas police check, health questionnaire and occupational health check
