The Adult Nursing-BSc course introduces the knowledge, skills, and professional understanding needed to care for adults across a range of health and care needs. At the University of Stirling, the foundation course provides an academic pathway into nursing by developing a strong grounding in subjects relevant to adult healthcare and professional practice.

What You'll Learn:

  • Foundations of adult nursing and the principles that underpin safe, effective care
  • Human health, wellbeing, and factors that influence health across adulthood
  • Key concepts in nursing practice, including assessment, care planning, and patient support
  • Professional responsibilities, communication, and ethical considerations in healthcare
  • Evidence-informed approaches to understanding health and nursing practice
  • Academic and study skills relevant to progressing in nursing education

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, students will have developed a foundational understanding of adult nursing and the wider factors that shape patient care. They will be able to explain core concepts related to adult health and nursing, apply appropriate principles when considering patient needs, and recognise the importance of professional, ethical, and person-centred approaches to care. Students will also be better prepared to engage with nursing-related academic study by using relevant information, developing structured reasoning, and communicating ideas clearly.
