Overview:
Birmingham City University’s BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health) develops the knowledge, professional values and practical abilities needed to care for people with mental health needs. Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will understand the principles and professional responsibilities underpinning mental health nursing and be able to apply nursing knowledge to varied mental and physical health needs. They will develop skills in assessing individuals, planning and delivering appropriate care, responding to acute and complex situations, and supporting people with longer-term conditions. Students will also develop their ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, exercise professional judgement and contribute to leadership and advocacy. Through practice learning and academic study, they will be able to connect evidence and theory with nursing practice and use research and quality-improvement approaches to support safe, effective care.
