Overview
This programme at the University of Leeds prepares students to become future-focused mental health nurses with the competence and confidence to think critically and deliver high-quality, compassionate, evidence-informed care. Students build resilience and strong communication skills throughout, learning to work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team that includes GPs, social workers, carers, and psychiatrists.

The relationship between mental and physical health, including the impact of long-term, life-limiting, and life-threatening conditions
How to manage conditions, recognise signs of deterioration, and provide complex care for acutely and critically ill patients

They will be able to recognise deterioration and respond appropriately to complex and acute presentations, while working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Students will also be equipped to build resilient, empathetic relationships with service users and families, and to support health promotion and recovery within a holistic model of care.
