Course Description

Overview

This programme at the University of Leeds builds a thorough grounding in core physics, spanning topics from thermodynamics through to quantum physics. Students also have the chance to pursue more advanced areas connected to the department's research strengths, from astrophysics to nanoscale and biophysics, with several opportunities to take part in genuine research throughout the degree.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply core physical theories to solve problems across mechanics, thermodynamics, quantum physics, and electromagnetism. They will be able to interpret astrophysical phenomena and contemporary developments in the field, and understand the ethical and practical implications of applying AI in scientific contexts. Students will also gain hands-on experience of research practice, developing the skills to design, carry out, and communicate a substantial independent research project.

Requirements

Kuwait: Completion of High School / Shahadat Al-Thanawiya Al-A'ama (General Secondary Education Certificate) with a minimum overall average of 85%, including 85% in relevant subject.
UKVI IELTS (Academic) 5.5 with no band below 5.5 (or approved SELT equivalent).
