English language
English Language course is very important for the international student to complete in order to accommodate easily in the foreign environment, with foreign people and understand academic functionalities. English language courses cover beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of speaking, reading, and writing in English, including grammar and literature skills. Generally, UK English Schools and Universities provide seven types of English Language courses:
- General English
- Intensive English
- Academic English
- Pre-sessional English
General English:
General and intensive English are basic levels of language courses. This course is most suitable for anyone 16 or above who is interested in improving their general English language skills. General English courses will develop the practical communication skills in speaking and writing as well as reading and listening and, of course, the fluency and grammatical accuracy of the learner.
Intensive English:
Intensive English courses are full-time as standard, usually between 22 and 30 hours per week of English study in a classroom environment. These programs practice the skills and language needed specifically for that area; examples are English for law, medicine, or aviation.
Academic English:
English for Academic Purposes is designed for students planning to begin tertiary studies. It introduces students to academic study skills. In this course, you’ll earn the quality of understanding and maintaining all your academic needs and requirements successfully. Academic English usually conveys some extra knowledge like literary terms, vocabulary, phrase, complex grammar, etc. That’s not covered by other English courses. You’ll also be an expert in creating a standard academic essay and doing well presentations in these courses.
Pre-sessional English:
A pre-sessional English course is a program that’s arranged for students whose first language isn’t English. This course is an academic English language and study skills, programmer. If you do not have the required English language level, you may wish to attend a pre-sessional English language course. The Pre-sessional English language course is available for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The courses vary in length depending on students’ current level of English. Students on the course will aim for an overall UKVI IELTS equivalent score of 6 (undergraduate) or 6.5 (postgraduate).
