Through our BA English degree at Southampton, you’ll discover how our stories shape who we are. You'll learn to see the books you love and the world around you with fresh eyes.

For your degree in English, you’ll study the best and most memorable works of literature. You’ll read English texts both old and new, epic and intimate. Throughout this course, you'll build your research and writing skills and strengthen your understanding of the ways humans make meaning.

You'll explore modules that cover everything from Arthurian legends to contemporary cli-fi (climate fiction). You'll study the Shakespearean stage to the American gothic, and the texts you read will take you from the Forest of Arden to the cities of Zambia.
 
As part of this programme you can:
