Overview

The BA (Hons) Drama and Creative Writing combines practical engagement with performance and theatre with the development of original written work. Students explore dramatic forms, storytelling, character, and creative expression while learning to reflect critically on their own practice and the work of others.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to create and develop original work using appropriate dramatic and creative writing techniques. They will understand how structure, character, dialogue, language, performance, and narrative choices influence meaning and audience engagement. Students will be able to analyse drama and creative writing critically, drawing on relevant concepts and contextual perspectives. They will develop the ability to revise and refine their own work, respond constructively to feedback, and reflect on creative decisions. Students will also be able to undertake research relevant to their practice, communicate ideas effectively, and work productively with others on creative projects. The course will support an integrated understanding of writing and performance as complementary ways of developing and communicating ideas.
