Overview
The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering develops a broad understanding of the principles used to design, analyse, and improve mechanical systems and engineering products. Students combine mathematics and scientific knowledge with engineering methods to investigate how machines and mechanical systems operate and how effective solutions can be developed.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to apply mathematical, scientific, and engineering principles to analyse mechanical systems and solve engineering problems. They will understand how materials, forces, energy, motion, manufacturing processes, and design considerations influence the performance of mechanical systems. Students will be able to develop and assess engineering designs using appropriate analytical and computational methods, while considering practical requirements and system performance. They will also be able to investigate technical problems, interpret experimental or modelling results, and use evidence to support engineering decisions. The course will strengthen their ability to approach complex mechanical challenges systematically, evaluate alternative solutions, and communicate technical information clearly and accurately.
