Course Description

Overview

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence develops core computing knowledge alongside an understanding of intelligent computational systems. Students explore how software, algorithms, data, and AI techniques can be combined to solve problems, while building the analytical and technical skills required to understand modern computing.

What You'll Learn

  • Fundamental concepts and principles of computer science

  • Programming, software development, and computational problem-solving

  • Algorithms, data structures, and computational thinking

  • Artificial intelligence concepts, methods, and applications

  • Machine learning and approaches to developing intelligent systems

  • Data representation, processing, and analysis

  • Computer systems, networks, and relevant technological foundations

  • Techniques for designing, implementing, testing, and evaluating software

  • Research, analysis, and critical evaluation of computing solutions

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply fundamental computer science principles to analyse problems and develop appropriate computational solutions. They will be able to design, implement, test, and evaluate software using suitable programming and algorithmic techniques. Students will understand key concepts in artificial intelligence and machine learning and be able to explain how these approaches can be applied to computational problems. They will also develop the ability to work with data, assess the effectiveness of technical solutions, and make informed judgements based on evidence. The course will strengthen their capacity to communicate technical ideas clearly, evaluate emerging computing approaches critically, and integrate computer science knowledge with artificial intelligence concepts when addressing complex problems.
