Course Description

Overview

Formulating mathematical models for real-world phenomena, solving complex computational puzzles, and advancing quantitative data analysis are vital for modern science, technology, and industry innovation. Associated with Griffith University, this foundation pathway equips students with essential mathematical knowledge, analytical principles, and academic competencies. By integrating advanced algebra, calculus, and quantitative data processing, the curriculum prepares learners to analyze abstract numerical systems and transition seamlessly into undergraduate studies in science with a major in applied mathematics.

What You'll Learn

  • Core mathematical concepts, including single and multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations.

  • Key statistical methods, probability theory, and quantitative data analysis techniques for scientific modeling.

  • Computational mathematics, programming logic, and numerical software tools for problem-solving.

  • Fundamental physics and logical reasoning principles relevant to scientific and analytical applications.

  • Essential academic English communication, technical documentation synthesis, and formal mathematical writing.

  • Analytical problem-solving methodologies, logical deduction frameworks, and structured research practices in quantitative contexts.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this program, students will be able to apply advanced mathematical and statistical principles to analyze complex numerical systems, structural models, and quantitative scenarios. Participants will acquire the capabilities to interpret mathematical datasets, evaluate scientific literature critically, and express complex quantitative concepts clearly through written reports and formal proofs. Furthermore, graduates will establish the critical quantitative reasoning, academic language proficiency, and rigorous analytical grounding needed to excel in degree-level studies in applied mathematics.
