Overview
The BSc (Hons) Physiological Science at the University of Bristol explores how the human body functions and how its systems work together to maintain health and normal activity. The foundation stage develops core scientific knowledge and practical skills that support further study of human physiology and related biological sciences.
What You'll Learn
Human anatomy and the structure of major body systems.
Cell biology and the biological processes that support cellular function.
Human physiology, including the operation and coordination of major physiological systems.
Biochemistry and the chemical processes underlying biological function.
Molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in normal physiological activity.
Nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, renal, and endocrine systems.
How physiological systems respond to internal and external changes.
Experimental methods, laboratory techniques, scientific measurement, and data analysis.
Research skills, scientific communication, critical thinking, and problem solving.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to explain the structure and function of major human physiological systems and describe how they interact to maintain normal body function. They will understand the cellular, molecular, and biochemical processes that underpin physiological activity and be able to connect these mechanisms
