The foundation stage develops core scientific knowledge and practical skills that support further study of human physiology and related biological sciences.

What You'll Learn

  • Human anatomy and the structure of major body systems.

  • Cell biology and the biological processes that support cellular function.

  • Human physiology, including the operation and coordination of major physiological systems.

  • Biochemistry and the chemical processes underlying biological function.

  • Molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in normal physiological activity.

  • Nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, renal, and endocrine systems.

  • How physiological systems respond to internal and external changes.

  • Experimental methods, laboratory techniques, scientific measurement, and data analysis.

  • Research skills, scientific communication, critical thinking, and problem solving.

Learning Outcomes
