La Trobe University operates across seven physical campuses situated throughout Victoria and New South Wales. Established in 1964 as Victoria’s third university, the institution provides comprehensive degree programs spanning arts, humanities, business, law, education, health sciences, nursing, engineering, computer science, and agricultural sciences.

The primary Melbourne Campus at Bundoora serves as the university's flagship academic and research hub. Located roughly fourteen kilometers northeast of Melbourne’s central business district, it stands as Australia’s largest single metropolitan campus, set across 267 hectares of native bushland and waterways. Bundoora accommodates the vast majority of the university's academic faculties, housing major infrastructure such as the Borchardt Library, advanced science and engineering laboratories, the La Trobe Sports Park complex, specialized healthcare simulation suites, and extensive student residential colleges. In central metropolitan Melbourne, the university also maintains a high-rise City Campus on Collins Street, catering to postgraduate business, law, and executive education courses tailored for working professionals.

Outside metropolitan Melbourne, La Trobe operates four major regional campuses in Victoria. The largest of these is the Bendigo Campus, located in Flora Hill, which serves as a major regional center for higher education in central Victoria. Bendigo accommodates over 4,000 students and features specialized sites including the La Trobe Rural Health School, advanced engineering labs, clinical units, sports facilities, and the La Trobe Art Institute. Along the border of Victoria and New South Wales, the Albury-Wodonga Campus in Wodonga sits on 26 hectares adjacent to the Murray River, providing specialized regional facilities for health sciences, education, and environmental research alongside the Centre for Freshwater Ecosystems. In the Goulburn Valley, the Shepparton Campus offers modern teaching facilities, clinical learning environments, and flexible study spaces built in the center of town. Further northwest, the Mildura Campus operates co-located learning facilities and specialized clinical units designed in partnership with local community and technical education providers.

Extending its footprint beyond Victoria, La Trobe operates the Sydney Campus, located on Elizabeth Street in central Sydney. Positioned directly in the city's commercial district, this urban campus delivers foundation studies, diploma programs, and undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business, management, and health sciences primarily aimed at international students. Across all seven campus locations, La Trobe University connects regional, suburban, and urban communities with modern academic, clinical, and research infrastructure.
