Course Description

Overview

Designing sustainable power networks, integrating advanced renewable energy systems, and engineering smart electrical grids are vital for modern power generation and global environmental sustainability. Associated with Griffith University, this foundation pathway equips students with essential engineering knowledge, physical sciences, and academic competencies. By integrating foundational engineering mathematics, circuit theory, and quantitative data analysis, the curriculum prepares learners to analyze complex power systems and transition seamlessly into undergraduate studies in electrical and renewable energy engineering.

What You'll Learn

  • Core engineering and scientific concepts, including physics principles, electromagnetism, and foundational engineering design.

  • Key electrical and renewable energy methodologies, including circuit analysis, power systems, energy conversion basics, and sustainability frameworks.

  • Applied mathematics, calculus, and quantitative data processing for engineering design and system analysis.

  • Introduction to programming logic, hardware integration, and technical problem-solving frameworks.

  • Essential academic English communication, technical documentation synthesis, and formal professional engineering reporting.

  • Algorithmic problem-solving, collaborative project management, and structured analytical frameworks in technical contexts.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this program, students will be able to apply mathematical and physical principles to analyze electrical circuits, evaluate power generation models, and solve complex engineering problems. Participants will acquire the capabilities to interpret quantitative engineering datasets, evaluate technical literature critically, and express complex electrical and energy concepts clearly through written reports and practical demonstrations. Furthermore, graduates will establish the critical quantitative reasoning, academic language proficiency, and rigorous technical grounding needed to excel in degree-level studies in electrical and renewable energy engineering.
