Course Description

Overview

Delivering pre-hospital emergency medical care, executing rapid clinical decision-making in high-pressure environments, and stabilizing patients in critical scenarios are central to modern emergency healthcare and paramedicine. Associated with Griffith University, this foundation pathway equips students with essential scientific knowledge, biological principles, and academic competencies. By integrating foundational human biology, clinical health sciences, and quantitative data analysis, the curriculum prepares learners to analyze emergency health scenarios and transition seamlessly into undergraduate studies in paramedicine.

What You'll Learn

  • Core biological concepts, including human anatomy, systemic physiology, pathophysiology, and microbiology.

  • Key clinical and health science principles, including emergency treatment frameworks, pharmacology basics, and human development.

  • Applied mathematics, biostatistics, and quantitative data processing for health and medical research.

  • Foundations of clinical communication, patient care ethics, and professional pre-hospital practice standards.

  • Essential academic English communication, scientific literature synthesis, and formal technical writing.

  • Scientific research design, safety protocols, and evidence-based problem-solving in emergency healthcare contexts.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this program, students will be able to apply biological and scientific principles to analyze human health status, trauma scenarios, and emergency clinical environments. Participants will acquire the capabilities to interpret quantitative health datasets, evaluate scientific literature critically, and express complex medical and clinical concepts clearly through written reports and presentations. Furthermore, graduates will establish the critical quantitative reasoning, academic language proficiency, and rigorous scientific grounding needed to excel in degree-level studies in paramedicine.
